The Dutch sports sector is entering a new era.

Join us in shaping the future.

From Heerenveen’s halls to Den Bosch’s hockey fields, sports are proud tradition in the Netherlands. Local clubs are at the heart of our communities, where children learn, friendships form, and volunteers make a difference. Today, these clubs and their communities face new challenges. It’s a complex time, but also one with plenty of opportunities.

We see a sector eager to make progress.

Everywhere we look, passionate people are working to strengthen the future of sport. Local authorities want to offer smarter support. Companies want to make a difference. Clubs want to grow and evolve. Yet, the path forward isn’t always clear.

Through our conversations, we notice that:

  • Support is organised differently by each local authority, which creates inequality.

  • Sports clubs, businesses, and governments often face challenges working together because they communicate in different ways.

  • Many great ideas are put on hold because of higher energy costs and fewer subsidies.

We see a community in transition, full of people eager to build together. They simply need the right tools, knowledge, and connections.

The good news is that the foundations are in place, and we’re seeing real progress:

  • Clubs are working together and sharing knowledge more than ever before. Open dialogue, especially at events, helps everyone benefit by sharing both challenges and successes.
  • New funding methods are becoming popular. Partnerships and smart sustainability initiatives are helping clubs cut costs and secure long-term support.
  • Sports clubs are using data and digital tools more often. This leads to better understanding of members and more effective ways to attract sponsors.
  • Our communities are growing stronger, both online and in person. The more connected people are, the stronger our sector becomes, and sports make a positive impact well beyond the playing field.

What’s next?

To create a truly sustainable and powerful sports community, we need more than just connection and coordination. We’re on the verge of an ecosystem where clubs work together, and every municipality, big or small, supports sports in a way that fits their local community.
